Black Hair: The New Super-Short Cut is All the Rage | Essence.com.
Saw this at Essence.com and had to share.
I’ve noticed lots of ladies rocking the short short cuts lately. I don’t know how long it’ll last because even though men say they love short hair, as soon as a long weave down to the butt walks by, the head still snaps.
I’m just saying.
Love, Peace and FABulosity!

One day > ‘all the rage’ will come from within and without. I’m just saying. Once a person get’s a true sense of what feeling like an individual is … it is hoped that ‘emulating’ another flies out of the window. It is hoped.
We SHALL overcome.
Amen to that MBX! I’m just not sure if it’ll happen in our lifetime.
@motivesgirl Well, not ‘universally’ in our lifetime, yet; but this movement or (better still) transformation has and continues to take place on an individual level. And…if each one teaches one, eventually it will again become ‘normal’ to be yourself.
LOL … wow, that sounded really strange (normal to be yourself).
Well I think slowly people are trying to be themselves…at least in some area of their life. Slow but steady progress is still progress.
Oh, I with the progress, however it comes. The social constructs that we are dismantling have taken many centuries to build.
Nothing urks me more, though, to see a sister cut her hair and regret that it doesn’t grow back ‘right’..resulting in her guilt and shame.
As a fella, I’m not so much up on the comforts or convenience or inconvenience of changing hair. So lemme ask this … if I were a female, how difficult would it be for me to keep my hair and if say I wanted a different longer or shorter style > couldn’t I just get a wig like our parent-generation did, as opposed to chopping off my locks completely?
Is that too much to ask?
There are lots of women who have many wigs, weaves and wig caps to satisfy their need for change. As a matter of fact, I’d go as far as to say the majority do these days.
However, I’ve noticed an attitude shift in women wanting to “take control” of their lives by making some sort of drastic change in their hair. I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just saying I’ve noticed.
Perhaps they feel they were in bondage with their previous hair choice. I don’t know…hmmmm Let me ponder on that one. I hear women say they feel free when they make a drastic change. I think they feel free because they made a decision and went for it… just my armchair psychiatry.
