What was Your Defining Moment?
I was thinking today about the small things that changed the course of peoples lives, you know, a piece of advice gotten from someone, a hard lesson you learned or maybe even a quote. I thought about the fact that everyone has something simple, yet powerful that helped move them towards being either focused, successful, happy, entrepreneurial, productive, caring, helpful…etc.
So I thought, wouldn’t it be nice if people actually shared 1 or 2 things that made an important difference in their lives that could possibly help someone else!
Most of the time people hoard key pieces of information because they don’t want anyone to beat them to the success finish line, but the fact of the matter is…what’s for you, is for you and you will achieve your success if you put in the effort required.
So give away some of the knowledge that you may have learned the hard way…you may find that it not only makes you feel good, but that in turn, someone may share something that may help propel you to your next level.

———– My defining Moment—————
Algebra was my worst subject. I hated it. I didn’t do well, in fact I was failing. My goal was to bring my grade up to a C, and after much toil and heartache, I was able to bring my grade from failing to a C. I was so excited!
Well I showed my report card to my mother with joy and excitement. She looked at me and said C? Excitedly I said yes isn’t that great? She just looked at me like I was crazy and said in a very calm voice, “Hey, I didn’t raise any average children”.
Wow, my heart sank. At first I was angry and thinking from where I came from and how hard I worked she should be proud. After much thought I realized that she simply didn’t want me to become complacent with just getting by and for my entire life that statement stuck with me, and became the driving force that makes me excellent at everything I do. I’m always striving to learn more, do more and be better… all from that one statement. I always say, you never know what you leave with people when you share the benefits of your experience. Make a deposit in someone’s life…it could be life changing.

Life…Just Life
This week has been quite draining for me. The death of my paternal grandmother, discovering life threatening illnesses of family members and the tragic, senseless killing of a young man in his prime.
This has me wanting to remind everyone that tomorrow is not promised. Share what’s on your heart with people because you don’t want to regret not saying that thing you always meant to say.
My grandmother lived until 88, she had a long life, the young man killed was just 22. Killed at the beginning of his adulthood over nothing. Life can be long, or life can be short…but one thing it is…is precious and not to be taken for granted.
Love conquers anger, hate, and bitterness. SPREAD LOVE!

New Year, New ME… How bout you?
Hello my friends! I know I’ve been gone for a minute. The last time you heard from me I was saying I gained 14 pounds (at Thanksgiving) …well since then I lost 20 pounds! Yayyyy How did I do it? I guess I would say the 3 D’s.
Disgust (at looking at myself)
Dietary changes
and of course…DISCIPLINE!!!
I’ve also been working out so by the time summer comes I’m gonna be even more Fiyya than I already am! 
Oh, and I cut off all of my relaxed hair too, recorded my first commercial voiceover and began taping my new TV show!!!
My advice to you, don’t just meditate, ponder and think about changing…take steps, any steps, to move in the direction you want to go in.
2012 is near…Let’s GOOOOOooooo!

Chef G Garvin Food Tasting Demo
I attended a wonderful food tasting demonstration where the chef was the Ultra Fabulous G Garvin from the new show “Georgia Road Trip with G Garvin”.
The sold out charity event hosted by noted photographer Whitney Thomas was held in Community College of Philadelphia’s brand new galley kitchen with all proceeds going to a scholarship fund for students at the college. Great philanthropy Whitney!
